I built this site for a simple reason: when I first discovered CoastFIRE, every calculator I could find online either oversimplified the math (ignoring inflation, taxes, and sequence risk) or hid the assumptions behind a black box. I wanted something I could actually trust — so I built it.

The calculator runs entirely in your browser. That's a deliberate choice: your financial inputs never leave your device.
Retirement math is a domain where hype and hand-waving run rampant. A lot of finance content is written to sell you something, not to inform you. I try to do the opposite — write the explanations I wish I'd had when I started, with real numbers, real trade-offs, and honest about where the math gets fuzzy.

I'm an engineer by training and trade. I've spent my career thinking in systems, working with data, and being skeptical of models whose assumptions aren't stated. I apply the same mindset to personal finance. I don't have a CFP certification — this site is not financial advice. What I have is the ability to read the source papers (Bengen 1994, Trinity Study, Kitces research) and translate them into calculators that don't lie to you.
