Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how CoastFIRE Finance (operated by MVN Services LLC, referred to as "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit coastfirefinance.com.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide to the calculator

When you use the CoastFIRE calculator, your inputs (age, income, savings, expected returns, etc.) are processed entirely in your browser. They are not transmitted to any server we operate and are not stored on any database. Reload the page and those numbers are gone unless your browser's local storage preserved them for your convenience.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, our hosting provider (Netlify) and analytics tools may collect:

• Your IP address (used for delivery, not stored long-term by us)
• Browser type and version, operating system
• Pages visited, time on page, referring URL
• Approximate geographic region (country / city-level, derived from IP)

Cookies and similar technologies

We may use:

• Essential cookies — required for the site to function (none currently, but reserved for future features like saving your calculator inputs)
• Analytics cookies — if/when we enable Google Analytics or Plausible Analytics, these track aggregate usage
• Third-party affiliate cookies — when you click an affiliate link, the destination site (Amazon, SoFi, etc.) may set cookies on their domain to track whether you sign up. We don't control those cookies; their privacy policies govern them.

2. How we use information

• To operate, maintain, and improve the site
• To understand aggregate traffic patterns (how many people visited which page)
• To comply with legal obligations
• To track affiliate referrals so we get credit for qualifying sign-ups

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with data brokers. We do not use it for targeted advertising beyond what affiliate networks and Facebook ad platforms do by default when you click a link.

3. Third-party services we use

This site relies on the following third parties, each with their own privacy policies:

• Netlify — our hosting and CDN provider (privacy policy)
• Cloudflare CDN — delivers the Chart.js library used by the calculator
• Amazon Associates — our book affiliate partner
• Impact.com — affiliate network (if/when our application is approved)
• Google Search Console — we submit a sitemap for indexing
• Facebook / Meta — if you arrive from a Facebook ad, Facebook tracking may apply via their click ID

4. Your rights

If you are in the EU/UK (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal information we hold about you. Because we don't maintain user accounts and calculator inputs aren't stored on our servers, in most cases we simply don't have personal data about you to return or delete. If you have questions, email us and we'll respond.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to opt out of the "sale" of personal information, and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information.

"Do Not Track"

We honor "Do Not Track" browser signals where technically feasible. Third-party services we use (analytics, affiliate networks) may or may not honor them independently.

5. Children's privacy

This site is intended for adults making retirement planning decisions. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we'll remove it.

6. Data security

We use HTTPS for all traffic. We store minimal data. That said, no internet transmission is ever 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. If you have concerns about sensitive information, don't submit it here.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be announced on the site with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
