Find your CoastFIRE number by age and income, dive into a specific age guide, or see how your career affects the math. Every page here uses the same conservative model: 60% income replacement in retirement, 5% real return, 4% safe withdrawal rate, retirement at 65.

How These Numbers Are Calculated
Every page uses three simple steps:
- Estimate retirement spending: 60% of current income (typical replacement ratio).
- Compute the FIRE number: annual spending × 25 (the 4% safe withdrawal rule).
- Discount to today: divide by (1.05)^(years until 65), where 5% is the assumed real return.
The result is the amount you'd need invested today such that, even if you never contributed another dollar, compound growth alone would carry you to a fully-funded retirement at 65. That's CoastFIRE.
Want to override the assumptions? The
main calculator lets you set your own retirement age, spending, return, withdrawal rate, tax assumptions, and pension/Social Security inputs. It also runs Monte Carlo simulations to stress-test your plan.
